Warner's In... or Is He? Oh, and Owens Wants to Be a Banker
Two late-night bites:Virginia: This Washington Post piece suggests that Republican John Warner may be giving retirement another look, despite recent press suggesting a lean toward a re-election bid. The article suggests that Warner is still deciding if he is "too old or too tired to wage what he expects will be a tough campaign in a state that has changed considerably since his last competitive race."
Colorado: In case Republican Wayne Allard decides not to break his term-limit pledge and opts for retirement, don't expect outgoing governor Bill Owens to run for the seat:
Owens said he has been asked by party leaders in Washington, whom he would not identify, to run for the U.S. Senate in 2008, but he said he intends to seek a new career in business. All Republicans, Allard included, might as well all clear a path to the seat for Democratic U.S. Rep. Mark Udall.
