Is Any Press Good Press?

  • Kentucky: Mitch McConnell will soon find out if any press really is good press. DMKY's Gunterman is on the ball with this two-fer. First, he highlights more conservatives taking shots at McConnell, including conservative blogger Tammy Bruce. Conservative Bruce's advice for McConnell: "It involves a swear word and performing a sex act on yourself. Go for it Mitch." Then, he catches the announcement that the Sunlight Foundation will be putting up a billboard in Louisville asking "What’s McConnell Hiding?" for allowing continued Republican obstructionism of Senate legislation. The Sunlight Foundation has also put up a website in accordance with the effort at www.WhatsMcConnellHiding.com. Not a flattering narrative being written about McConnell.

  • Michigan: Michigan Liberal's Hazen Pingree offers a list of the possible token opponents Carl Levin might face in 2008. If you live outside of Michigan, odds are you've never heard of these people and likely never will.

  • Oregon: What Loaded Orygun sees here is a failure by Gordon Smith's office to communicate.

  • Alaska: Snark of the day, courtesy of TPM's Josh Marshall on Ted Stevens' RenovationGate:

It's amazing how picky people are nowadays.

A big oil company whose executives have been indicted for bribing multiple Alaska politicians can't even be in charge of renovating the state's senior senator's house without people making it like there's something fishy going on.
I know - people are SO judgmental!

  • Minnesota: MN Publius looks back at Dr. Peter Agre's appearance on The Colbert Report (I believe from October 2006). As Colbert admires Dr. Agre's Nobel Prize, Dr. Agre explains the importance of science in the national dialogue and the difference between "good" and "bad" science. Meanwhile, someone named Bob Olson has apparently entered the Senate race in Minnesota. No idea who this person is. Any details?

    According to

    http://wcco.com/politics/local_story_107093403.html

"Bob Olson, a businessman and lawyer who ran unsuccessfully against U.S. Rep. Jim Ramstad in 1994, is also seeking the DFL endorsement."

Apparently it's not this Bob Olson:
