Immigration, Wedges, and Narratives

  • Not that this is a shocker to some, but immigration will be the wedge issue against the GOP in 2008. As the Guru has mentioned before, it's already taking its toll among the bases of Lindsey Graham and Saxby Chambliss.

  • Kentucky: Speaking of immigration, a majority of conservative bloggers would be very unhappy with Mitch McConnell if bipartisan immigration reform passes.

  • New Hampshire: Blue Hampshire looks at the narrative developing among the netroots about Senate candidate Katrina Swett, that she is a "LieberDem" trading on her name more than any actual skills or abilities.

  • Alabama: Left in Alabama picks up on this teaser from Commissioner Ron Sparks:

"I'm ready to roll up my sleeves; I'm ready to take them on, because you're right and they're wrong."
"We're within striking distance" of defeating Jeff Sessions. "This man is beatable ... because of his record."
"We've got better days ahead of us."
"Rest assured, I'll be on the ballot again."
    Looking forward to it!

  • Maine: Congressman Tom Allen will be Vlogging on FireDogLake this Saturday, June 9th, at 2pm. Mark your calendars!

  • Minnesota: Al Franken and Mike Ciresi are rolling out more endorsements.

An interesting interplay is how immigration will play out in places where Republican Senators disagree.

For instance, Dole is very much against it, while Burr is for it.
